We make our utmost efforts to ensure that your visit will

Veisten Country Hotel is situated in Forset hamlet in 
Gausdal Municipality, central Norway.

The distance to Lillehammer, host of the winter Olympics 1994, 
is 28 km. (17 miles),
to Skeikampen Alpine Centre 15 km. (9 miles)
and to Hafjell Alpine Centre 25 km. (15 miles)

A century ago Veisten Country Hotel was one of the country's 
most popular hotels and place of recreation. 

Gausdal is known for it's beautiful surroundings and its clean, 
unpolluted and dry air.  In older times Gausdal was the 
perfect place for treating people with tuberculosis 
(before discovery of the BCG-vacine).
 

The air is still dry and clean, but now there is only one lung-
hospital left.  Nowadays the valley is most well-known for
its agriculture, beautiful scenery and each year host the 
Danish Queen Margrethes winter holiday.   

"Veisten farm and boarding house" has always been a travellers home, 
established in 1864. 
The traditional hotel in timber has now been re-opened as 
Veisten Country Hotel. 
The goal is as it was then: 
"The place you will want to visit again".

As a guest you will experience the fantastic Gudbrandsdal Valley's 
nature (Peer Gynt land), with old timber buildings, an 
intimate atmosphere, but it is also a source of exciting 
activities and enjoyable leisure experiences.

Veisten Country Hotel has 16 inviting guestrooms, with in all 
sleeping accommodation for 32 people. 

Based on Norwegian traditions, we give you the best of food, 
designed hopefully to give you an extraordinary gastronomic 
experience.  
With a small number of quests we can adjust the menu 
to your special taste. 

We of course arrange trips to nearby places for different activities, 
both winter and summer. We provide transport to the nearest 
railroad station, Lillehammer 
(2 hours by rail from the new Oslo airport - Gardermoen).

Outside bubble bath

Veisten Country Hotel has a common sauna to accommodate 16 people.

We recommend most heartily our outside bubble on a clear and cold 
winter evening (down to an air temperature of minus 20 degrees 
centigrade and + 40 degrees centigrade in the water) 
A guaranteed experience for both body and soul.

Alpine Farm

Veisten Country Hotel has its own alpine farm, which is used for 
all-round activities in the winter and the summer.

Courses and Conferences

The intention is to offer facilities and perfect surroundings for 
special courses and conferences. Together with our tailored 
activities (from extreme tours to cosy happenings) our environment 
is a venue which is perfect for your team building activities, 
courses or special meetings.

Our starting point is husky sledge dog tours and open-air activities 
in nature. We can also offer experienced course leaders with special 
competence in team building and conflict resolution.

Husky sledge dog tours in the mountains

As a resident at Veisten Country Hotel you will be able to experience 
an exciting encounter with the mountains on trips with your own 
husky sledge dog tours.

On your own, with family or with your colleagues you will be able to 
master new challenges.

Imagine you and your colleagues, each with your own husky sledge dogs, 
riding into the mountains?

Veisten Country has 60 well-trained and obedient husky sledge dogs. 
You will of course receive the necessary training, and we guarantee 
an experience you will never forget.

The language on the rest of this site is of course Norwegian, 
but pictures are probably understandable anyway.  
Anyway, most of the Norwegians speak English, so you will not 
meet any big problems in making yourself understood.
